We are on a mission
Working together to make sustainable housing accessible to everyone. That is our mission and what we work towards day in and day out with our 250 colleagues. With a view to the generations to come, we provide sustainable housing solutions for living, caring, learning and working. We are building a future where sustainability is central, backed by our expertise in infratech.
Innovations for almost 100 years
Whereas De Meeuw started out as a wagon maker in 1929, we have evolved into a full-service provider of circular flexible housing. New ideas are often born out of necessity. During the oil crisis in 1974, for instance, we invented the modular building system: the foundation of our circular business model. Our position in the utilities market strengthened over the years, and since 2016 we have been offering our housing solutions for the residential market. All of this is done from our headquarters and factory in Oirschot. It’s our home base where we develop, produce, offer and distribute our industrial, modular and circular building systems.
Flexible housing instead of immovable real estate
As a producer and provider of flexible housing, we create non-residential and residential buildings that are adaptive and can be relocated. Unlike immovable real estate, flexible housing can easily be made larger or smaller, change function or even move location while still in use. Whatever is needed. You can also use the building for as long as necessary. When you no longer need it, we will take it back. Allowing you to always have the space you need for work, care, education or housing.
Smarter together!
Since 1 July 2023, VDL De Meeuw has been part of the VDL Groep, the 100% Dutch, but international and industrial family business founded in 1953. They are constantly expanding the group from their headquarters in Eindhoven. There are now approximately 16,000 employees, operations in 19 countries and more than 100 operating companies, each with its own specialism. However specialised, all activities can be captured in the ‘five worlds of VDL’: hightech, mobility, energy, infratech and foodtech. Where intense collaboration lends substance to the motto: strength through cooperation.
“We have been operating a circular business model since 1974. Not because it was necessary, but because it was smarter’’
Ready for the future
Our business model has been circular since 1974. Not because it was necessary, but because it was smarter. In fact, by keeping buildings and materials circular, we have significantly reduced our CO2 emissions and waste streams. The circular approach, which has been the norm for us for some time now, is a top priority for the government and other companies today. One positive development that has also encouraged us to go the extra mile. In 2029, our centennial anniversary year, we will be ready for the next 100 years with a goal of being 100% net zero.
